You do not have to carry this alone

This is for the part of you that is tired of surviving around someone else’s gambling.

The second-guessing, the emotional exhaustion, the fear around money, the grief and the constant instability can take over your life. This programme was created to help you process what has happened and begin reclaiming peace, joy and self-trust.

You may recognise this

“I feel like I am always waiting for the next thing to happen.”

You may recognise this

“I do not know what to believe anymore.”

You may recognise this

“Money feels stressful, unsafe and emotionally loaded.”

You may recognise this

“My mind will not switch off.”

You may recognise this

“I keep trying to fix, manage or control everything.”

You may recognise this

“I want to feel like myself again.”

This is not about waiting for the gambler to change. It is about giving yourself the support, tools and space to rebuild.

Why this option exists

Rather than you missing out, this gives you a flexible way in.

After reviewing applications, we recognised that not everyone could be offered a place in the live programme. Time zones, capacity and the need to support people properly meant the fixed live format could not work fairly for everyone.

So additionally, we created Rising Above the Gambling Storm: a private community and flexible 12-week online pathway giving you access to the same specialist content, without needing to attend a fixed weekly session.

You receive Rebuild & Rise: Reclaim Your Life, supportive resources, practical tools, community guidance and space to move forward at a pace that works around your life.

My journey into this work is deeply personal.

After years of living alongside gambling harm within my marriage, I eventually found myself raising my two sons alone after a painful and highly acrimonious divorce. Behind the scenes were years of emotional stress, uncertainty, anger, financial pressure, and trying to hold everything together while quietly struggling myself. Like so many affected others, I spent years constantly overthinking, worrying, second-guessing myself, and trying to create stability within an environment that often felt emotionally chaotic and unpredictable.

For a long time, I stayed stuck in survival mode. I carried a huge amount of anger and resentment for what had happened to me and my family, and although I understood why I felt that way, I eventually realised that holding onto that pain was only continuing to hurt me. That realisation became the turning point that changed the direction of my life.

What began as my own healing journey slowly evolved into something much bigger. I became deeply interested in understanding human behaviour, emotional patterns, trauma responses, self-worth, relationships, and the impact that stress and unresolved pain can have on both individuals and families. This eventually led me into therapeutic training and supporting others facing similar experiences - both people struggling with gambling behaviours and the loved ones affected by them.

Alongside five years of therapeutic training and practice, I also bring 19 years of senior leadership and management experience within the NHS. My background has involved supporting people, leading teams, managing high-pressure environments, and understanding the emotional and practical challenges people can face when life becomes overwhelming.

Today, my sons are now in their mid-thirties, and I’m also a loving nanny to my two young grandsons. Looking back, I never imagined that some of the most painful experiences of my life would one day become the foundation for helping and supporting other people. But that is exactly what this work has become for me - something deeply meaningful, human, and rooted in both lived experience and hope.

How we met

Five years ago, Claire met Lorraine whilst training in Rapid Transformational Therapy. They connected instantly through their shared experiences of gambling harm and the impact it had had on their lives and families. What grew from that connection became a shared mission: creating the kind of support they both know they would have desperately needed during the hardest moments themselves.

Claire
Therapist

I’m Claire, therapist, mum to three children aged 12, 8, and 7, and for more than 13 years I’ve also been living alongside the impact of multiple addictions, including gambling, within my own family.

There have been periods of deep love, deep confusion, heartbreak, fear, hypervigilance, and moments where I genuinely didn’t know how much longer I could keep holding everything together.

I know what it feels like to lie awake analysing conversations. To scan for signs something is “off”. To feel your nervous system constantly bracing for what might happen next. To desperately want peace, safety, and stability for your children whilst struggling yourself behind closed doors.

I also know what it feels like to love someone deeply whilst simultaneously being hurt by the behaviours addiction creates, and how emotionally confusing that can be to hold.

For a long time, I thought if I just found the right words, the right strategy, the right amount of support, monitoring, explaining, understanding, or fixing, things would finally feel safe again.

But bit by bit, through my own healing, therapeutic work, boundaries, nervous system regulation, and learning how to stop abandoning myself in the chaos, something started to shift.

But gradually, I stopped losing myself quite so much inside someone else’s struggles.

One of the biggest shifts for me was realising that although I couldn’t control another person’s choices, I could learn how to protect my own mind, regulate my own nervous system, process emotions more safely, back myself more and become more present in my own life again.

And honestly, that changed not just me, but the kind of mum I was able to be.

The tools we now teach inside this programme have helped me move from surviving and constantly scanning to being more present with my children, playing and laughing more, enjoying ordinary moments again, and creating greater emotional safety within our home, even during uncertain times.

So many of these tools have become part of our everyday family life now: grounding, emotional awareness, nervous system regulation, understanding feelings, creating calm and connection, because reducing intergenerational trauma became deeply important to me.

Alongside my lived experience, I also bring more than 16 years of professional experience as a qualified Occupational Therapist, and the last five years specialising in gambling harm, addiction, trauma-informed therapy, and recovery work.
